Auroras Update: Otamendi readying himself for the step up

In recent times, the Accra Hearts of Oak youth team Auroras have seen a couple of the players being promoted to the senior side and have gone on to establish themselves in the team.

Notable among them are Mitchelle Sarpong and Abdul Manaf Umar who have both been regular first-team players for the Phobians and have become fan favourities since making the setup from the junior ranks.

Another player who could soon make that breakthrough is Nicholas Norvor who is nicknamed Otamendi after the Argentine and Man City of England defender. He has distinguished himself at Auroras since he joined some four years ago.

The defender has been a pillar of strength for our youth side and have been invited to train with the first team prior to the suspension of football in Ghana following the the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Norvor is strongly built and plays with a lot of composure at the back and, he is highly revered by our senior team coach, Edward Odoom who has additional responsibility at Auroras.

Coach Odoom told Hearts Media in a recent interview that he has spotted about six players from the youth side who could all be moved to the first team but, will want to see them play in their league for another season.

And, Norvor is certainly, one of them but the youngster is not in a rush but will rather continue to work on his game as he bids his time for a move into the senior ranks.

“I am happy that Coach Odoom rates me highly but, I am not moved by that; I have ambitions of my own and I know with time, I will make that breakthrough and become the best player that I want to be”, Norvor told Hearts Media.

With time and age on his side, he could go on to become one of the best defenders that ever emerged from our youth ranks into the main stream and go on to do great things for himself and the club.
