Hearts departs Dormaa after GPL opening day no show

Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak have departed Dormaa Ahenkro for the capital after our opening day fixture in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) with Aduana Stars was called off at the last minute due to coronavirus concerns.

The game was scheduled to come off at the Nana Agyemang Badu (NAB) I Park last Saturday but was put on hold after concerns were raised on the Covid-19 test results of some members of the Hearts of Oak travelling party.

The team was asked to remain at our hotel in Dormaa by the Ghana Health Authorities for further tests to be conducted on the team before being given clearance to travel or otherwise.

These tests have now been held and the results have declared that all is well within the travelling party and have been cleared to return to Accra and continue with preparations for the GPL whose Matchday Two fixtures are set to come off this weekend.

Hearts left the Bono region for Accra on Thursday morning and the team is expected to arrive in the capital later today. Our GPL Matchday Two fixture with AshantiGold SC has been pushed back to Tuesday, November 24, 2020, with the game set to come off at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will announce a new date for the Aduana Stars vs Hearts of Oak GPL Matchday One encounter expected to be played at the NAB I Park, Dormaa Ahenkro.
