Match Report : Elmina Sharks vs Hearts of Oak.

Accra Hearts of Oak's bid to make it double this season was boosted after a second half extra time freekick was beautifully converted by Caleb Amankwah.

On a night of anticipation, tension and happiness in an enemy grounds, Hearts looked on course for what seems like a double in this year’s FA CUP season.

Hearts, Ghana Premier League Champions, appeared more determined right from the blast of the whistle but they met a relatively stiff Sharks team.

And after a tense period of 90 minutes failed to find a winner, it was on to Extra time and sweeter victory it was for Hearts players and their supporters. Head coach, Samuel Boadu was elated and did his usual celebration pointing straight into the sky acknowledging that “the victory came from God”.

Hearts missed two of their regular starters, Kwadjo Obeng Jnr and Emmanuel Nettey who are nursing injury.

Caleb, who seem to have replaced Nettey in the squad was the man of the match. He performed heroics to score the goal after a freekick was awarded to Hearts to send the league champions to FA CUP semifinals. The technique used in taking the freekick could only come from a Hearts of Oak player. It was a powerful shot that went straight into the roof of the net beating Sharks’ goalkeeper, Joseph Essam.

Hearts have made progress into the semifinals and next play Medeama - still Hearts are looking to add the FA CUP to their League champion laurel.
