Daniel Afriyie has won the discovery of the season award after beating Augustine Boakye, George Asamoah, Abraham Wayo and Samuel Ashie Quaye to the prestigious award organized by the Universal Premier League Awards.
The Discovery of The Season award is designed to recognize the most exciting young players emerging during the 2020-21 GPL campaign.
Players from other clubs who keenly competed for the award showed that the GPL has talents but Daniel Afriyie showed that he stood out by making a significant impact in the competition. In doing so, earning themselves a spot on the shortlist of nominees for this year’s Discovery of The Season.
One of the stand-out moments for Afriyie was his goal against archrival, Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium which was the decider of the season. The goal seemed to condemn Kotoko and concreted the fact that Hearts were on the verge of winning the league.
Daniel Afriyie was an exciting player to watch during the premier league season. Before that, his prospect at the national U-20 was remarkable. He led the national team to WAFU and CAF glory where he scored the two winning goals to win the trophy for Ghana.
His goals were very key as team Hearts clinched the league title.
He is currently in the camp of the black stars as his talent cannot be overlooked by the national coach.
