CAF approves 2000 fans for WAC clash

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has responded to Hearts and has given the club the go ahead to admit only 2000 fans to the Accra Sports stadium in our match against W.A.C of Morocco on 17th of October,2021. You will recall that in the first preliminary match against Kamsar, CAF’s directive was against the admission of fans to the stadium.

A Hearts of Oak letter sent to CAF through the Ghana Football Association (GFA) requesting for an approval of government’s 25% to the stadium was responded to today explaining that in keeping to the COVID-19 protocols, they, CAF, will rather prefer that all matches be played behind closed doors.

However, due to the assurance from both GFA and Hearts of Oak that issues about security is of high priority to them, they will grant Hearts an exception and allow just 2000 fans to the stadium.

“Accordingly, a decision has been taken to exceptionally allow the presence of 2,000 spectators given that the National Safety & Security Officer (Julius Ben Emunah) and the Club’s Safety & Security Officer will coordinate all safety measures on the aforementioned match”.

“We kindly ask your cooperation to fully comply with the above decision, while noting that in case of non-respect, your federation will be subject to disciplinary sanctions by CAF”, Raul Chipenda Development Director stated in the letter.

Hearts of Oak are seeking to get into the group stage of the competition and that hurdle starts with the game against Wydad Athletico Club of Morocco.
