Hearts pays courtesy call to President Akufo-Addo … President pledges GH₵1m support to Hearts


A delegation from Accra Hearts of Oak this evening paid a courtesy call to his Excellency, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House. The visit formed part of activities marking the club’s 110 anniversary celebration which commenced on November 11, 2021.

 

The delegation which was led by Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei included madam Ivy Mills, Alhaji Imoro Briamah all representing the board, Coach Samuel Boadu, Physical trainer/Welfare officer W.O-1 Paul Tandoh, Mr. Emmanuel Quashie, Kwame Opare Addo, Fatawu Mohammed, Raddy Ovouka and Ben Mensah.

 

Hon. Odotei praised the President for his immense support in ensuring that there is sanity in Ghana football after the Anas expose` and added that as Hearts celebrates its 110 anniversary it was of immense importance to celebrate the club’s successes with the President as the oldest existing club in Ghana.

The President was presented with a customized Hearts of Oak replica jersey with number 77 which symbolizes the President’s age.

 

On his part, the President urged Hearts to make Ghana proud in the ongoing CAF Confederations Cup competition and as well successfully defend their Premier League and FA Cup titles the team won last season. “As part of your 110 celebration, I urge all Phobians to stand firm and support the team to defend the good image of Ghana football and as well go on to successfully defend all the titles you won last season. You have a big role to play in lifting high the image of Ghana football. I am proud of your achievements as a club and I hope our desire to see you bring more laurels to Ghana football will materialize”.

 

The President praised Coach Boadu and his Technical team as well as the players for working hard to bring success to the club and urged them to get better and better in their quest to defend the title and conquer Africa. “Samuel Boadu is currently one of the very best coaches and together with his captain and the rest of the players I want to encourage you to do more for Hearts and Ghana. I therefore pledge GH₵1million to support your campaign in the CAF Competitions which I believe will serve as extra motivation to the team to win on Sunday and go on to qualify to the group stages”.
