Match Report - Medeama vrs HeartsofOak

A fiercely played match which could have easily passed as a beautiful game despite the misbehavior of some Medeama supporters and some bad calls from the center referee.

Vincent Atingah’s last minute penalty gave the Medeama lads the victory after Robert Addo clumsily brought down Toure in the box. The goal was enough to secure them all three maximum points.

There were begging chances that Hearts missed in the first half which could have changed the result and probably secure the team the needed victory. It was not to be. But while Hearts had chances to take the lead before halftime, Medeama, the pride of Tarkwa, proved more than a match. Medeama had several good chances as well to take the lead. They were over powered mostly by the experience defender, Mohammed Alhassan who seem to have had Ahmed Toure in his pocket until the penalty was given.

Prior to the goal, Referee Padi had made a lot of bad calls that seem to have affected the beauty of the game but nonetheless, coach Boadu asked his boys to focus on the game and do their best to deliver.

After the game, Coach Boadu expressed his disappointment at officiating. “It was unfortunate we lost the game in this manner. We came in well prepared and had a game plan but at the end of it all this is the way we had to surrender the points. From that distance I saw it differently. I usually don’t talk about officiating, but I think they must also do well to improve game after game. On the red card I honestly did not know what happened and don’t know what was the motive behind the red card?. “These things spoil the beauty of the game” he added.

The aim of securing the three points eluded Hearts and had to travel back to Accra with just the three points secured at Bibiani on the road.

Hearts of oak, who were honoring their outstanding match and were subjected to so much unprofessional acts. The position of Hearts on the league table remains unchanged. They occupy the 7th position.

Hearts will be hoping for a better result in their subsequent matches when they play Eleven Wonders this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.
