Team Hearts of Oak have joined the campaign
to fight the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic with messages of hope and
inspiration to contain this disease in these difficult times.
Our Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV
initiated this exercise when he donated some items to two hospitals in the
Volta region to support the fight against COVID-19. His, was to backup
governments efforts in combating the disease.
His was followed by the Managing Director,
Frederick Moore who send an inspiring message urging all to stay safe and
adhere to the directives of the government officials in the hope of beating off
Head Coach Nii Odoom then sent a video
advising all to stay safe and follow the precautionary measures announced by
the authorities in these difficult moments.
Number One goalkeeper Richard Attah also
sent a video on this pandemic charging all to play it safe wherever they may
be. Club Captain Abdul Mohammed Fatawu put out a religious message urging all
to take to prayer and ask for the help of the Almighty in the awake of this
virus that has put hold on all social activity worldwide.
The club has come out with a simple message
urging all to follow the government’s directive and stay at home which is the
best way not to invite the virus and to stay alive.
The Covid-19 pandemic has ensured that all
football related activity has been halted in most parts of the world including
Ghana with the Ghana Premier League (GPL) still to finish the first round.
When the league resumes, Hearts of Oak will
honour a GPL Matchday 16 outstanding away encounter against King Faisal before
playing Techiman XI Wonders and Legon Cities to end the first round.
