Accra Hearts of Oak’s game against Techiman Eleven Wonders postponed

Accra Hearts of Oak’s game against Techiman Eleven Wonders postponed again for the second time in a week. Hearts of Oak who were due to play their away match against the wonder lads on Monday were asked to return to Accra having made the journey halfway to Techiman.

The team delayed their departure on Saturday morning because they wanted to know the result from the GHS and advice from GFA after the initial rapid test indicated that there were traces of Influenza in their lab test carried out at the training grounds on Friday.

Hearts of Oak started showing symptoms of flu after their game against Dreams FC and reported to the GFA but their league game against GoldStars was not called off after request from Hearts for the game to be postponed due to the illness. Hearts were made to play and out of good sportsmanship managed to raise a team, played and won.

Doctors are currently treating the players and they seem stabilized at the moment. The Ghana Health Service has shown concern and have requested that Hearts matches be suspended for seven days in order to allow further investigations to be conducted to ascertain the source of the virus and also to allow players and staff of the club to fully recover.

The GHS recommends that players and staff of the club experiencing symptoms of the respiratory illness such as fever, cough, sore throat runny nose etc, be isolated to curtail further spread.
