Hearts extends “Phobia Love” to La Dadekotopon

As the GA community prepares for their Homowo festival in the month of August, the “LandLords” of Accra Football, Accra Hearts of Oak has once again led the way like it has always done both on and off the pitch. This time the Phobians have fulfilled their social responsibility towards the people of La as they prepare for their traditional pre-homowo fishing termed, Nshɔɔ bʋlemɔ.

Accra Hearts of Oak, were supported by their sponsors, Sunon Asogli with some items and delegation which consisted of members of the team and heavily represented by the Commercial and Communication team and led by Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei, former MP, La Dadekotopon Constituency. The T-Shirts were received by Nuumo Adam Sorsei, the head of the Apaitse WE clan from the La Dadekotopon.

Both Parties held a lengthy discussion on how to continue to collaborate and explore some areas in ensuring that the beauty of the Capital most especially the beach is projected. In a statement delivered by Dr. Kwame Ampofo, he thanked the Hearts of Oak board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV for responding positively to their call. “We are happy to receive you all. As represented here by all clans in the La Dadekotopon, we called upon Hearts of Oak and Sunon Asogli for support to enable us prepare adequately for the festival. We appreciate the good gesture shown to us and we believe this will be the beginning of the big initiative both of us hope to achieve in the future to support this community”.

The La Dadekotopon community is eager to explore the possibility of using the festival as a form of tourist attraction to the community. The festival that starts with fishing (Nshɔɔ bʋlemɔ) will see the fisher folks in the branded Hearts of Oak and Sunon Asogli T-Shirts whilst they perform their annual traditional rites.

“For now, the fishing, Nshɔɔ bʋlemɔ, is not really as effective as it used to be but if we pay attention to it, it might become a huge tourist attraction point which will bring development into this community and Ghana at large. Because there are lots of people who visit the sea when the festive fishing is being done, we can package this very well and sell to the world which certainly will support our economy. So, I am happy His Royal Majesty, Togbe Afede XIV agreed to support this initiative. We most appreciate his support”.

In his response, the leader of the visiting delegation, Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei mentioned that Togbe Afede XIV believes in helping to develop every sector of our society and felt that their visit to him was an honour hence his swift response. “When the La Dadekotopon homowo team visited, the board chairman called us and shared his ideas with us and being a native of La, he instructed that we represent well and give the necessary support to make the friendship benefit the people of La Dadekotopon.

In the spirit of the Homowo festival in the Greater Accra, Accra Hearts of Oak has been invited to honour the GA Mantse derby in a match against Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.
