Isaac Mensah strikes late to kill off GoldStars’ hopes:

Hearts of Oak secured a last-minute goal to get a 1:1 draw with Bibiani GoldStars after it looked like the Phobians were going to return home with a defeat. Hearts of Oak came from behind to earn a very valuable point in an entertaining draw at Bibiani.

Banahene's first-half goal was cancelled out by Isaac Mensah’s spectacular header at the Knick of time from a Salifu Ibrahim’s expertly taken cross.

It was an eventful afternoon for both sides. There were series of opportunities for Hearts as they went down early in the first half of the game. The team stepped up their performance for the equalizer and anytime they came close to achieving that they missed the target narrowly.

Hearts of Oak’s approach in the second half was entirely different as they piled maximum pressure on GoldStars. Hearts’ quest for a win was kept alive as the players kept their foot on the paddle which eventually gave them a valuable point. Albert missed a great opportunity that could have given Hearts an early equalizer after he fluffed a shot which eventually brought some relief to the GoldStars folks.

The vociferous Hearts fans were not happy with that outcome and so was the technical team and the player himself.

Speaking after the match coach Ocloo mentioned that: “We wanted a win but a draw is not a bad result looking at the tempo of the game. I love the character of my team. I am impressed with the spirit.”

He spoke about some of the missed opportunities. “We are working on every aspect of our game. Trust me, we will come good and we will see the results of our hard work” said Ocloo.

Micheal Osei, the head coach for GoldStars was disappointed with the performance of his team especially the time the goal was conceded. He termed it as “lack of concentration.”

There was a slight element of controversy that delayed the game at a point when referee Yao Selorm Bless initially whistled for a penalty for Hearts but later reversed the decision after review.

Hearts of Oak will be looking forward to other matches to pick some maximum points as the quest for the ultimate continues
