Hearts get set for RTU


With the return of the betPawa Ghana Premier League this weekend, Hearts of Oak travel to the north to face RTU in our first fixture of the season. 

Hearts of Oak has been boosted with the signing of some of the best players in the Ghana league and beyond. The players look hungry for success and the ambition on their faces tells it all.


The new Head coach seems to have his handwriting on this team and they have shown what to expect in the season. The team now has a complete set of technical team with a technical Director overseeing all the various levels of the club’s operation. 


The previous season did not go as planned and with that at the back of the minds of the technical team, they have prepared well enough to make this season a success. 


The team has carefully selected these crop of players in tandem with the fresh philosophy of the club and the direction that the club is taking this season. The goal is clear and the goal is to fight for the ultimate. 


Kelvin Osei-Asibey joined the glorious Hearts of Oak team from 1st division side, Techiman Eleven Wonders after their failed campaign for a return into the Premier league. 


He has been a revelation and a joy to watch. His level of professionalism and dedication is unparalleled so far. The club also signed the former captain of Bechem United, Kofi Agbesima giving the club good options in center-back. Other players in defense have gelled well with their new teammates and seem to have developed good partnership. 


Other sets of inclusions are Leventus Arthur formerly of Tamale City and Micheal Ampadu from Legon Cities both players are lateral defenders. 


The team has not only beefed up the defensive area but also added to the midfield and striking departments with the inclusion of the skillful Martin Karikari, and the energetic Rapheal Amponsah adding to the list of midfielders for the season. Nurudeen, who just returned from injury is a pleasant addition to the team. Michelle Sarpong also makes a return from his loan with Dreams FC to add to the dynamism we will be witnessing in the midfield. 


Some additions have also been made to the striking department. 

Goal scoring which has hither to been a bane is boosted with the inclusion of Hamzah Issah who was promoted from Auroras. Kashala Ramos and Evans Adomako.


These are all fantastic additions to the rejuvenated Seidu Suraj, determined Eonde Dieudonne and the Ambitious Kwadwo Obeng Jnr. 

The team will be led by a fantastic technical team headed by Rene Hiddink, the technical director of the team, Martin Koopman, the head coach, Abdul Tijani, Assistant head coach, Jerry Asare Adjei, the Goalkeeper’s Coach, Sebastian Barnes, the chief Scout and welfare officer, Carlos Klu. 


The team kickstarts its Premier league campaign on Friday 15th September 2023 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium at 6:00 pm against Real Tamale United.
