Awako: I am committed to Hearts
Ghana Black Galaxies and Hearts of Oak captain, Gladson Awako has reiterated that he is ever committed to the course of Accra Hearts of Oak hence his recent decision to extend his contract with the Phobians.
Few days ago, the former Great Olympics captain ended all speculations about his future with Hearts and signed a one-year contract extension with the Phobians which has an option to extend thereafter. After agreeing to the new offer, Awako who is currently on national team assignment with the Black Galaxies has mentioned that the option to extent his contract was borne out of his loyalty to the club he has always considered as his first option.
“I am very much committed to this club because it has helped me a lot and the only way I can reciprocate the gesture was to give my all under every situation so we can continue to make this great team proud and well projected.
Am committed to the course of the club to achieve greater laurels.
In his first year with the club, he played an important role to help the Phobains successfully defend the MTN FA CUP title. Ironically, the Phobians will start their title defense without his services as we take on Uncle T' United at the Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence - Prampram tomorrow Tuesday, 27 December 2022.
Awako says “I have no fear at all that the guys back home will make us all proud. They are very much capable. They deserve the support of all and at the end of it all the Phobia flag will fly high”.
He took the opportunity to thank the Hearts technical team led by Slavko Matic for the confidence they have reposed in him and making him feel very much of a big part of the Phobia family.
“I thank Matic for his good support. Though he has been here for a short while, I have learnt a lot from him. I see my career has been rejuvenated within this short while I have played under the coach. He is such a great coach to work with. He is a good leader and a father to all of us. His understanding of the game is tremendous and I believe that has helped us a lot in the completions”.
